  • Steps, borders and edging
  • Natural stone and masonry accents
  • Removal of old surfaces and proper base preparation

What to know before you start

The base is the job

Most paver problems, like sinking, rocking or washed-out joints, trace back to what is under the pavers. We excavate to the right depth, compact the base in layers and set the slope so water runs away from your home.

Bay Area conditions

Clay soils swell when wet and shrink when dry, and winter rain tests every surface. A well-built base and good drainage are what keep a paver surface flat through those cycles.

Questions we hear

How long do pavers last?

A paver surface built on a well-compacted base with good drainage can last for decades. Most failures come from poor preparation rather than the pavers themselves.

Do I need a permit for a patio?

It depends on the city and the project. Size, height, distance from the house and how much of the lot is paved can all matter. We will tell you what applies to your property and help with the paperwork where it is required.

Can you replace an existing concrete patio with pavers?

Yes. We can remove the old slab, prepare a new base and install the new surface as one project.
